Male Dog, Chihuahua

Chihuahua / Spaniel / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

Animal Profile: Tate is an adorable ~2-3 year old, 8 lb chihuahua/spaniel mix who was rescued from a high kill shelter in CA along with his buddy, Tyler. Both dogs were seen tail wagging and accepting pets/affection in their shelter video, and they arrived in the Seattle area on Sunday, March 16. Tate seems to be the more shy pup of the duo, and would benefit from a canine companion in his foster home. Foster Update: Tate has taken a few weeks to settle in, but that’s understandable given his journey. He does great in his crate and even prefers to sleep there at night. He's fully house trained with no issues. We don’t believe he’d ever been walked on a leash before, but now he’s doing pretty well! He can get spooked by loud noises or people, but every day he’s improving. He may have initial ‘stranger danger’ upon meeting someone, especially men, so his adopters should be prepared to go slow and be patient. Once he warms up to you, he’s all kisses and wants belly rubs. He should have another dog in the home to help with his confidence. He can be pushy when seeking affection, so a tolerant dog is preferred. He can be vocal when excited and we are working on him not jumping up when he’s excited. All around, he’s just the sweetest little Tater Tot! Tate would do best in an adult-only home with adopters that are comfortable being patient as he settles in, and committed to continuing to help this guy grow his confidence. He will do best with another confident canine companion in the home. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550 which includes spay/neuter, core vaccinations per AVMA standards, heartworm test if applicable, microchip with registration, andhealth certificate. Your adoption fee may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. All adoption fees go toward the care of all dogs in our rescue. Apply Online: www.DogGoneSeattle.org/adoption-application Animal History: This dog was rescued from euthanasia at Animal Shelter in California, arriving to foster care in Seattle on DATE. This dog will be available for adoption in the greater Seattle area once evaluated in foster care.
