Description:

Animal Profile: Mark Anthony, Cleo and Alexander were born in March of this year in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma. Sadly, they were on a property tied to trees with only barrels for shelter in the sweltering heat. Our rescue partners at Furry Freight were alerted to their conditions and reached out to see if we could help and we had to say yes! He is social, happy and so eager to bond with a family of his own. Foster Update: Marc Anthony arrived very scared and reactive of new people, especially children. We're not sure why he was this way -- perhaps he was taunted while tied out. He made a ton of progress with little kids in his first foster home, but he is still wary of strangers and will occasionally bark when he sees a new person. When we are out shopping he will take treats from new people, but he still does not usually accept pets when out of the house. We are continuing to work with Mark in social settings with trusting new people, but this will likely be an ongoing project. Mark’s favorite things are having his face rubbed and wrestling with the resident dogs. He is respectful of our senior dog, and plays well with the other resident dogs. Mark does well in his crate ( though he does some FOMO barking when he feels left out), sleeps through the night in his kennel and is potty trained. We are trying out a Potty Bell so he can let us know when he has to go out. Mark’s skills include sit, lay down, kennel, and waiting to be released to eat. He tolerates baths in the tub and nail trims like a champ, and doesn’t mind having his ears, teeth, and feet inspected. Confident dogs and respectful children would help him to build more confidence, but do not recommend a home with cats as he is simply too interested in the cat here in his foster home. Mark is an amazing young dog who is ready to find his forever home. Since he has some fearfulness to work through, we believe he would do best in a home with dog experience who would be dedicated to continuing his socialization and training. This sweet boy has so much love to give and wants to be just as good as he can.
