Male Dog, Chihuahua

Chihuahua / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Animal Profile: Choco (like Choco Taco) was a stray intake in California, and found himself at risk for euthanasia. Our rescue partners sent his info over, and when we saw his sweet little face we knew we had to save him. Chaco is estimated to be 1year old, and weighs 10 lbs. He is friendly with people and was kenneled with other dogs in the shelter without issues. Foster Update: At first glance, Chaco keeps his distance. He is watchful, a little wary, like a lone wolf who’s seen too much of the world. He’s the kind of dog who might bark at a stranger from across the street, not out of aggression, but principle. Trust is earned, after all. But give him time. Once Chaco lets you in, he really lets you in. He doesn’t just cuddle, he commits. He’ll fold himself into your lap like he was made for it, look up at you with eyes that say you’re it — his whole universe. No grand gestures, no flashy declarations — just quiet, unwavering loyalty. The kind that sneaks up on you and stays. He gets along with other dogs, even ones bigger than him, and his play style is athletic and spirited (yes, he’s been known to parkour off the couch with zero hesitation). He loves a good game of fetch but settles easily when playtime’s over, content to curl up in his crate like the independent gentleman he is. Chaco has a soft spot for toys and a surprisingly tidy nature, no chewing, no chaos. He walks beautifully on a leash, savoring every sniff like he’s reading the world’s oldest novel one scent at a time. House-trained with only a couple hiccups in the early days, Chaco didn’t arrive knowing the basics, but don’t mistake that for reluctance. He’s a quick study, especially when treats are involved, and he’s eager to learn the rules of this new life with someone who sees him. Not just the bark, but the heart behind it. Chaco may not be the open book kind of dog. But if you're patient… if you’re the type who falls for the slow burn… he’ll be your most loyal chapter yet.
