This sweet girl landed in an overcrowded shelter in North Carolina and no one came looking for her. The staff soon realized that she was pregnant and heartworm positive. Besides the fact that a shelter is no place for a dog to give birth, the shelter was completely out of space. In steps a hero – an AFH foster who will take care of her during her pregnancy and delivery and will also care for her during her heartworm treatment. Once her babies have been weaned, she has been spayed, and she has completed heartworm treatment, she will be available for adoption. Her babies will be available for adoption when they are eight weeks old. Schatzi is a sweet, shy girl who just wants to crawl into someone’s lap.
