Female Dog, Boxer

Boxer / American Staffordshire Terrier / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

Meet Penny! This brindle beauty’s rescue journey began when 19-year-old Alexis spotted her running down a road in Chester, SC. Worried for her safety, Alexis coaxed her to safety and took her in. As a college student working long hours, Alexis knew she couldn’t keep Penny, but she refused to give up. After contacting multiple shelters and rescues, she finally connected with Worthy Dog, and thanks to her persistence, Penny got her chance. Penny’s luck continued when one of our favorite fosters, Laine & Gary, welcomed her into their home. Now safe and loved, Penny is completing her heartworm treatment while living with three large foster siblings. She’s already proven she thrives in a pack and easily adapts to her dog friends’ energy, whether that means joining in play or lounging quietly. By nature, Penny has a moderate energy level; her foster mom says she usually strolls along “slower than molasses,” though she still gets the zoomies now and then. Penny is a naturally social pup. She did great at the vet, rides well in the car, and greets new people with ease. She loves being near her humans and is learning how to enjoy short stretches of alone time. She’s house-trained and working on crate training with a gradual reintroduction, so it feels positive. Her favorite things? Playing with her foster buddy Ziege, any kind of treat, lounging on the back deck watching for critters, and plenty of naps—this girl is a proud couch potato. She’s not into toys just yet, but we think that may come with time as she continues to discover life’s simple pleasures. Penny would do best in a home with a flexible schedule and another friendly dog. She bonds quickly, loves men and women equally, and has the sweetest, most affectionate nature. If you’re looking for a social, easygoing couch buddy, Penny is ready to meet her forever family. Apply today!
