Male Dog, Norwegian Elkhound
Norwegian Elkhound / Akita / Mixed (Long Coat)
Description:
Axel is a truly special dog with a heart full of love and loyalty. Through no fault of his own, Axel found himself in a high-kill shelter after his previous owners wer e forced to move and couldn’t take him along. Believed to be a mix of Elkhound and Akita, Axel is not only strikingly handsome but also uniquely charming Highly intelligent, joyful, and full of energy, Axel thrives on playtime—he especially loves chasing tennis balls and playing games like hide-and-seek in the yard. He’s the kind of dog who will keep you laughing with his enthusiasm and cleverness. He’ll sit between your legs while you prepare his meals, nudge you gently when he wants attention, and even remind you when it’s bedtime—curling up beside you if allowed. Axel loves the outdoors and would do best with a securely fenced yard where he can explore freely. He prefers to be the only dog in the home as his previous owner stated that he is not used to living with other dogs, but his lively personality and deep affection more than make up for it—he’s all the dog you’ll need! He’s fully house-trained, non-destructive when left alone, and always happy just being wherever you are. Axel needs some work learning how to walk on leash without pulling but that’s true for most dogs who were never trained to walk on leash. His foster mom and dad are working with him on this and he is enjoying the walks with them. Axel is 5 years old and about 55 lbs. He would do best in a home with older teenagers or adults as he is used to a lower traffic household. Axel adapts quickly to new routines and will greet you every day with a wagging tail and a happy heart. His fosters are confident that Axel will bring warmth, laughter, and endless love to the right home. He’s just waiting for someone to give him that chance.
