Description:
Hi, Iâm Max! Iâm a handsome, strong, and affectionate boy who came to the shelter through no fault of my own after my owner had a change in living situation and could no longer keep me. Even though things have been a little confusing for me, Iâve shown everyone here that Iâm a true sweetheart who loves human attention and really wants to please my people! When I first meet someone new, I might bark or seem a little unsure, but if you give me a moment and approach me calmly, I settle down quickly and become curious and engaged. I respond really well to gentle handling and encouragement, and I enjoy forming positive connections with people.I donât have much experience walking on a leash, and it seems like I probably spent most of my time in a fenced yard instead of going on regular walks. Iâm strong and I do pull, but with the right guidance I improved quickly and was able to walk nicely with gentle correction. Iâll benefit a lot from basic obedience training and loose-leash walking, and Iâm eager to learn with someone who is confident and consistent with me.I also have a gorgeous, highly sought-after doodle-style coat that does need regular maintenance. When I arrived, my coat was very matted and I wasnât familiar with grooming, but I surprised everyone by being patient, cooperative, and such a good boy throughout the entire process. With reassurance and kindness, I did great and cleaned up very nicely.Iâm going to make a wonderful companion for the right home. Iâll do best with someone who is comfortable handling a strong dog and who is committed to continuing my training and grooming care. With structure, consistency, and love, I have all the potential to become a loyal, happy, and well-mannered family member.Iâm ready for a fresh start and a family to call my own!If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog's better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2025 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older.
