Male Dog, German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dog

Description:

Taz, a handsome 2-year-old male, was found as a stray in Stockton with multiple wounds and an injury from having a collar embedded in his neck. We found him to be a very sweet but timid boy and were delighted to bring him into our program to heal, decompress, to learn the art of becoming a great family dog. Taz has shown his true colors as a smart, playful, super-affectionate, and calm boy who just wants to connect with and please his people. At only 65 lbs., he is kid friendly and has been around children as young as 5 years old. Even though Taz is friendly to strangers (men and women alike) on his walks, he prefers the ladies and would do best with a woman owner upon whom he will shower affection, love, and unlimited snuggles. At home however, Taz is extremely uncomfortable with “big” men. Check out Taz's video on YouTube! Taz is comfortable around all kinds of dogs showing neither aggression nor enthusiasm. He can entertain himself with stuffed toys but he LOVES his ball and will play fetch with you for as long as you want! Very little prey drive is detected but he finds it entertaining to chase shore birds and deer. With a low prey drive, Taz just might be okay with cats! Given his previous neck trauma, Taz now sports a harness and enjoys a long morning walk and then just hanging out with his people and his foster-sister. He walks very lightly on the leash, at your pace with no pulling. Taz is housebroken, crate trained, and happily perfecting his house manners. He now responds well to off, sit, down, place and shake. Additionally, Taz sleeps soundly in his crate at night for 8 hours. With the foster’s consistency and a routine, Taz seems to gain confidence every day. We have no doubt that if his new owner continues offering this boy opportunities to safely explore his immediate world, he will be an amazing companion who is deeply connected and loyal. Watch Taz practice his obedience! (and check out his soulful eyes!) Taz is a level 3 dog Watch Taz play with his pals!
