IMPORTANT NOTE: This pet is NOT part of the Castaway Critters program but is listed as a courtesy to the owner. Please do not complete an on-line application listing this pet as your selection. If interested in more information about this pet please contact:Julie, 410-493-8123INFORMATION ABOUT THIS PET:Rhoda had been wandering a neighborhood in Hanover, PA for at least a year. At the request of a concerned older couple, I picked her up on 12/23/22 when we were having a few days and nights in the single digits and below zero. Long story short, she had some medical issues which took a few months to resolve. She is hyperthyroid and takes 2.5 mg of methimazole twice a day (100-5 mg tablets are $20). She has been spayed, had 5 broken and decayed teeth removed, and she has been microchipped. Rhoda has a heart murmur, but no treatment is needed. Before that, she was in a lot of pain and would stop eating (wouldn’t even touch wet food). Thankfully, this sweet girl is much healthier and pain free!!! She is feline leukemia/FIV negative, has had a rabies vaccine, 2 distempers, and had treatment for fleas, ticks, and worms. We have six rescued cats and a dog who reluctantly tolerates the cats. Rhoda has been in our half bath since I took her in, which is not ideal, but it’s the best I can offer her. She doesn’t seem to want to make friends with our cats or I’d keep her. Both her vet and I feel that she would do well in a quiet home with no other animals. The vet’s office loves her and always tell me what a good girl she is. Rhoda is such a trooper and never fusses no matter what they do. Rhoda is 95% sweet and 5% sassy! She loves to eat, loves to be combed, and loves to sit on laps. When she’s annoyed, she lets you know gently. In the right home, I think this old girl would flourish!!! Rhoda will need some continued care with her thyroid issue. Mainly, bloodwork occasionally to make sure the medication is still doing its job. This beautiful girl deserves some love the years she has left. I LOVE her so much, but our home is too hectic for her.Vet References required. Rehoming fee $25.
