04/15/26 16:41 Pothole has another recurrent severe fever, leading to weight loss and weakness. The fevers are likely due to his FIV and immunodeficient status. Medical is closely monitoring his status.03/25/26Meet Pothole, a sweet ~6 year old castrated domestic medium hair who came into the shelter on 3/13. He has definitely known the comforts of a home and is looking to return to them.Pothole had a severely large abscessated wound on his right head and neck, so large it was weighing his head down. He was in desprate need of medical attention. Pothole has been through several rounds of wound care under anesthesia, first to drain the fluid, then to resect dead/necrotic areas of skin, and then to place/remove drains. He's been so cooperative thorugh it all. Pothole spiked a fever during his healing process, which has since resolved. His wounds have finally largely healed up and his stitches are out.Pothole has FIV, which has made his healing process slower, but that isn't stopping him yet.Lastly, Pothole had severe ear infections (bacteria/yeast) when he came in, they were treated and will need a recheck at or around April 24th with a vet, and may need a second treatment if infection persists on the microcope. After his first treatment, he's no longer shaking his head or scratching at his ears :)Pothole is available for rescue or an FIV-friendly adoption home. Once he heals up, we're sure he'll be a lovely companion and pet - he's been so tolerant of all of his medical care, including injections and oral medications. We do not have history at this time about how he does with other cats or dogs.
