Description:
Meet Hazel – A Brave Pastel Tortie with a Heart of Gold Hazel’s story is one of heartbreak, survival, and hope. Once a tiny kitten in the hands of people who should have cared for her, Hazel instead lost her home when they brought in a dog and pushed her outside. For three long years she lived on the streets, having litter after litter, surviving only because a kind neighbor left food out for her. Then tragedy struck—Hazel was run over by her own owners. Instead of taking her to a vet, they confined her to a cage on their patio, where she gave birth yet again. By day she was let out, and by night she and her kittens were locked back inside the cage. When the family was evicted, a neighbor called us. We stepped in and rescued Hazel, along with her kitten from a prior litter and her four newborn kittens. Only later did we discover how badly she’d been hurt. During her spay surgery she stopped breathing under anesthesia, and further tests revealed an abdominal hernia caused by the accident. Hazel underwent life-saving surgery at Western University—a procedure that carried significant risk. She pulled through remarkably, and thankfully we were able to reunite her with her kittens. Hazel continued to nurse them and has been the most amazing, protective mom. Today, Hazel is healthy, spayed, and finally safe. Beyond her resilience, she is an absolute treasure: her fur is the softest, silkiest coat you could ever touch, and her personality is just as lovely. Hazel is a sweet, affectionate, three-and-a-half-year-old cat who wants nothing more than to love and be loved in return. After all she’s endured, Hazel deserves the gift of a forever home where she will never again know hunger, neglect, suffering, or abandonment—only love, comfort, and the chance to finally just be cherished. If you’re ready to welcome a sweet, loving companions into your life, come meet Hazel. Please reach out to [email protected] to request an application.
