Looking for a particular human name? Looking up your own name? Interested in stats about first or last names? Brainstorming ideas for a new name? Namedat is the site for you!
You can begin by using the search box to type in a first or last name. Available name suggestions will be displayed below the search box – please select one of the suggestions and you will be taken to a page that displays data about that name. Some examples include John, Doe, or John Doe.
THIS SITE IS PROVIDED FOR FUN AND SHOULD NOT BE INTERPRETED AS PERSONAL INFORMATION ABOUT AN INDIVIDUAL. In fact, our database doesn’t actually have any data based on actual first name-last name combinations, i.e. no database record for “John Doe” exists. Instead, the web pages that we display are based on estimates calculated from what we know about the first name “John” and the last name “Doe”. We are using statistical calculations only and have no personal information about actual people.
This first and last name data is sourced from the U.S. Social Security Administration and occasionally augmented with user submissions. Unlike our Dog and Cat name data, which is updated daily, we do not update our human name data on a regular basis, so if you have a name that is newly-created, it is not likely to appear in our search results.
We have taken care with the design and content displayed to ensure that what we display does not infringe upon the personal privacy rights that we all deserve. We care about people and would never want to put anyone’s privacy or safety at risk. If you feel as though anything we display is beyond your comfort level, please contact us and we will respond as quickly as possible.
Occasionally, if the community has provided or requested information about a topic or public figure, we may also provide pages that offer in-depth information about the individual. Some examples include John Lennon, Yoko Ono, Aretha Franklin, and a collection of scientists. We also post articles to the blog that we hope you will find interesting and relevant to the many facets of names.
