Male Dog, Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees (Long Coat)

Description:

We pulled this handsome boy from one of our local shelters in June, along with Della Street and Paul Drake. We're not sure whether they are siblings, or perhaps just dogs who found each other as they were each roaming the same rural area. People in the area where they were found believe them to be working livestock guardians. For the brief time that he was in our pasture before his neuter surgery, Perry Mason didn't seem happy, and went over the fence to come to the house. Since moving to the house, he has not tried to breach the fence, which makes us convinced that he's happiest being close to his people. We've taken Mason into our chicken yard a few times, and he basically ignores the chickens. He's very playful with other dogs and is as sweet as can be with people. He puts himself in a crate (the door stays open) for naps. While Mason may have been a working dog before landing in the shelter, we would like to find a home where he can be more pet than LGD. His ability to go over our 5' tall no-climb horse fencing means that he's not a good dog to put in the pasture and leave him there. But if you have a backyard flock of chickens, Mason could make a great family pet who lives in the house but (with proper introductions) could most likely be counted on not to harm the chickens. If Perry Mason sounds like the perfect dog for you, please submit your application here.
