Female Dog, Shepherd

Shepherd / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

My name is Poppy and I was dreaming of waking up on Christmas morning in my very own home. But sadly, that didn't happen. Now I am just hoping that someone will want me to be their valentine! You see, I found myself all alone in an animal shelter when I was only 4 weeks old!! How does that even happen???? My foster mom fell in love with my tiny little self and decided I could not grow up in a cage. She took me home so that I could grow up in a home environment with lots of other dogs to help me with my socialization because that is very important for a puppy. As hard as I try, I can't remember much about my early life or what my real mom was like. My foster mom says I was born around July 24, 2021 (I heard someone say that when they opened my mouth to look at my teeth - kinda weird, huh?). Oh, by the way, my mom has GUESSED that my breed is shepherd mix because my ears have started to stand straight up but you can see the results of my DNA test in the photos. I guess I am really just a mutt and my mom and dad were both travelers - can you believe that I am made up of 19 different breeds?????? My foster mom says that I am a SheherdX, but I identify as a chihuahua. S o . . . . . if you love the chihuahua personality, but are worried you would step on the little booger then I am the dog for you!! Despite my rough beginning, I am a pretty normal puppy. I love to play with toys and I get along with all the dog friends I have met. I haven't had a chance to meet cats or kids or a lot of big people but I think I would like them if they don't mind my puppiness and they give me time to figure out that they are okay. POPPY is available for adoption with Saving Grace Dog Rescue of San Antonio. The adoption fee is $195.00 local and $395.00 out of state with transport. An adoption application, home visit and adoption contract are all required. All dogs are spayed/neutered, up to date on vaccinations appropriate for their age, microchipped and wormed for internal and external parasites. If you would like more information or an adoption application, please email us at [email protected]. Please note that visual breed identification in rescue dogs is unreliabe so for most of our dogs we are only GUESSING at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each dog as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our dogs based on personality.
