Male Dog, Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees (Medium Coat)

Description:

Meet Rupert! He is a very photogenic and happy boy who loves to play with other dogs and get attention from his people. Rupert loves to come right up and put his chin or head on you to get lots of loving attention, and that combined with his good looks make him a very charming and popular dog. His age is around 2-3 years, so he still has the amount of playful energy of a young dog. He is fully grown, weighing about 70 pounds. Rupert lives in a foster home with quite a few other foster dogs. He would do great in a home with other dogs that will play with him or in a home as an only dog where he gets lots of attention His coat length is medium-long and he is house trained and is very good about waiting to do his business outside, although he has been known to try to mark in the garage a time or two. Rupert loves to go on walks and is being trained with a leash, but has enough energy and excitement to try to help by pulling a decent amount. He is crate trained although isn’t a huge fan of going in the crate unless there is food in there. He does great in the car, and even jumps up into the back seat of his foster dad’s car when it’s time to go for a ride. He knows sit and come, especially when food/treats are a possibility. He has a moderate amount of energy and loves to chew on Nyla-bones. He would do best in a home with a backyard and either other dogs to keep him occupied and happy or time dedicated to playing with him or taking him to the dog park regularly. He does very well with other dogs in almost all circumstances, only having some issues around feeding time. For this reason, he is fed in a crate separate from others, as he is a very hungry boy, and will try to take food from other dogs even when they really don’t want him to. SPIN Pyrs are all in foster homes in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Adoption fees are $300 for dogs under 1 year old, $250 for dogs 1-7 years old, $200 for dogs over 7 years old. Potential adopters are asked to make travel arrangements if they live elsewhere. All SPIN dogs are spayed or neutered, current on vaccinations and on heartworm prevention. Please go to our website www.SpinRescue.org and fill out an application for this great Great Pyrenees!
