Description:
Meet Pongo — Your Next Adventure BuddyLocation: Manvel, TXDate of Birth: 02/27/2024Good with Dogs: YesGood with Children: YesCats: UnknownPongo is a handsome young boy with a big personality, big energy, and an even bigger heart. He is currently looking for an active home that is ready to keep up with his playful spirit and provide the love, structure, and guidance he needs to thrive.PersonalityPongo is curious, energetic, and incredibly affectionate. He enjoys attention and tends to bond closely with his person, but he is also happy to seek out affection from anyone in the room. While he can be a bit nervous at first and may startle easily, he warms up quickly and has never shown any aggression toward anyone in the home.He is also a true cuddle bug. One of Pongo’s cutest habits is walking between your legs for pets and affection — sometimes he will simply keep walking with you that way. Once he has burned off his energy, he loves curling up in your lap for a nap.Energy LevelPongo is very active and will thrive in a home that can provide:- Multiple daily walks- Playtime and enrichment toys- Mental stimulation and structure- Without appropriate outlets for his energy, he may become mischievous simply because he has so much enthusiasm and drive.Training and Manners- House trained- Crate trained- Very smart and food motivated- Learns quickly- Improving on leash manners- Sometimes does well in the car but can become overstimulatedPongo has not had much formal training, so he is still learning basic manners. However, he is eager to learn and catches on quickly, especially when treats are involved.Additional NotesPongo prefers a harness due to a sensitive neck, as collars can cause coughingHe can be reactive to other dogs while on leash and is continuing to work on thisDogs, Kids, and Social LifePongo is currently living with another Great Dane and a small terrier mix and gets along well with both. He especially enjoys younger, energetic dog companions and would benefit from a home with another playful dog if the household is not highly active. He is currently living with children ages 2–7 and does very well. He is gentle and affectionate, but because he is still young and unaware of his size, he may accidentally knock over smaller children during play or while seeking cuddles.Things That Make Pongo Nervous- Children’s swings (he may try to "protect" people from them)- Sudden movements when he is unsure- Pongo may be cautious with strangers initially but warms up quickly and begins seeking attention.Ideal HomePongo would thrive in:- An active family- A home with another energetic dog or an active lifestyle- A home that can provide exercise, enrichment, and continued training- A family where he will not be left alone for long periodsPongo forms strong bonds with his people and enjoys being involved in daily life. With structure, exercise, and love, he will become an incredibly loyal and fun companion. If you are looking for a playful, affectionate, energetic companion, Pongo may be the perfect match. All donation options, adoption applications, and important links are available here:https://linktr.ee/SrgdrrIf donating, please note who or what your donation is for.For more information, please email us at [email protected].
