Male Dog, Great Dane
Great Dane
Description:
LOCATION: Vinita, OKDOB:01/14/2023Meet Hank—a two-year-old fawn Great Dane with a heart as big as his paws and a personality just as unforgettable. Once known as Hashbrown in the shelter, Hank was terrified when he first arrived, so scared he showed fear-based aggression toward the staff. But beneath that fear was a dog worth saving—and his fosters didn’t hesitate.Since coming home, Hank has made incredible progress. He's built a strong bond with his foster parents and has become a goofy, playful, loyal companion. He’s still learning to trust the world, though, and recently showed some of his old fear-based behavior when he nipped at a visiting friend. Because of this, Hank is looking for a calm, low-traffic home—one without kids, where he doesn’t have to meet new people all the time or manage the stress of constant introductions.Hank thrives when the expectations are clear and the energy is steady. He needs someone who can be his confident leader, someone who understands that structure and patience go hand in hand. He doesn’t respond well to being pushed or rushed, but when you earn his trust, he’ll follow you anywhere. And he’ll do it with flair—this boy is full of character.According to his foster mom, Hank is endlessly entertaining. He loves showers, not just tolerates them—he’ll happily hop in for a rinse like it’s his personal spa day. He’s a fan of being brushed, has mastered potty training, and he’s not destructive in the house. While he doesn’t use a crate, he decompresses just fine when given his own space and a comfy bed. Hank also rides beautifully in the car, making him a great road trip buddy.Out in the yard, Hank’s favorite activity is zooming—big, joyful laps around the grass that show off his silly side. He does get along with other dogs, especially with slow introductions and a human who can step in if things get a little too rowdy. He’s not a fan of unneutered males, and when play turns into wrestling, he needs a reminder to tone it down.Hank walks well on leash, unless a squirrel or cat catches his eye, in which case you’ll see a burst of that Great Dane power. Still, with the right guidance, he’s manageable and eager to please.Hank is available as a foster-to-adopt, and he’s more than ready to find that perfect match—a calm, confident home where he can feel safe, be silly, and never worry about the chaos of constant visitors again. If you’ve got the heart, the patience, and the love, Hank might just be your next best friend.========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .For more information, please email us at rescueme@srgdrr.org.
