He was not adjusting to life in a townhouse with no fenced in yard so it was in his best interest to get him into rescue where we could find him a good home and that we will do. Stevie is a wonderful dog, but he is anxious so there a few things that he must have. A fenced in yard is a must Another adult, small dog, age 5 yrs or younger, for him to hang with Someone that either works from home or is a stay-at-home person No apartment, high rises, townhouses, or condos Stevie is becoming more playful, so we want him to have a pup playmate that is 5 yrs of age or younger. He is getting comfortable being in his foster home. He follows foster mom around to help her do whatever needs to be done. He gets along with the other fosters, male, and female. He does know how to use a doggie door, but it is not required if you do not have one but at first, you would need to take him out on a schedule. Would you not just love to boop that nose of his? If you are interested in adopting Stevie, then please go to our website and fill out our online adoption application. As handsome as this boy is I would not wait too long as you will miss out on this sweet boy. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. There will be an additional $60 fee added for a required Health Certificate if traveling out of the state in which they are being fostered. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other.
