Slinky is a bit of an escape artist. He will try to dart out a door, get out of a harness, or slip through a gate, so his adopters must be very careful he doesn’t get away from them because he will be on his merry way and not look back. With that being said, you have to know Slinky is the sweetest of boys and doesn’t know a stranger! He has to go to an active couple who will walk him and know what to expect. If you are looking for a friendlier-than-friendly guy, then Slinky is your man! He also loves to cuddle when it’s time to settle down at night. Sleeping in the big bed, OH YES! Our must-haves for precious Slinky include: A fenced yard Another young small dog, a laid-back male or a small young female Someone who can be home more often than not and wants the companionship of a friendly little boy No apartments, high-rises, or condos If you think Slinky would be the one you’d want for a loving pet, then go ahead and apply for him, but we will warn you that you have to be careful he doesn’t get out on you or away from you, or he will be off on a great, solo adventure! He’d be happy if you’d make him yours. ============== Information for All Dogs/Adopters ============== AADR does not recommend dachshunds for families with children under 5, or families planning to have children during the dog's lifetime. Dachshunds are often not patient with little kids, and kids can accidentally hurt a dachshund’s back or get bitten. If you have questions about this dog, please feel free to contact the foster home at the email address listed on the bio form. They have the most up-to-date information concerning the dog and would be happy to answer any questions about the animal. We will not adopt into CT, RI, NH, ME, or MA due to strict laws regarding importation of dogs into those states. If you have any issue with this, you will need to take this up with your legislatures. To understand the adoption process through AADR, please review the Adoption Information on our home page. Transportation options are outlined on that page in Step 3. Click this link to apply: https://www.allamericandachshundrescue.org/apply, it will take you to the application form. Please don't let the distance stand in your way of finding your newest best friend. We have volunteers who will help your "new friend" get up and down the East Coast or Midwest. We just can't get them from one coast to the other.
