Male Dog, German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dog

Description:

This sweet boy needs a new home. Quincy is a beautiful, fourteen month old male German Shepherd whose owner has been diagnosed with a serious illness and is no longer able to give him the attention he deserves. Although it is heartbreaking to part with Quincy, the owner loves him too much to deny him the opportunity to have the happiest and most loving home possible. Quincy was born January 31, 2024, making him a little over a year old. He has been well cared for and loved. His last visit to the veterinarian was just a few weeks ago when all his vaccines were updated. He had an updated check for heartworms as well and received a clean bill of health. He is chipped and has been neutered.Veterinary records can be provided. Quincy is affectionate and sweet, but also full of energy and playfulness. He is house trained and knows simple commands. He gets along well with the 11-year old who spends every other weekend in the home and with two other children who visit often. He has only been around a few other dogs and very briefly, but he recently began walking on a leash and is doing very well. So far, he has shown no animosity to people or dogs he encounters along the way, although he does growl at those pesky brown lawn bags on the sidewalk sometimes. He would love a home with outside space to run and play because he is an avid ball chaser! He likes to chase his tail, and it is hilarious to watch. He takes it quite seriously and catches it sometimes then doesn’t know what to do with it. Quincy also loves being inside with his people. He likes soft, slow pets on the head and belly rubs. He loves to lean against you when he stands beside you. He is an energetic, active dog, but there are times when he plays with his toys by himself for a while and then falls asleep. He is the most precious sleeping dog - a bit of a contortionist sometimes. Asleep or awake, Quincy will steal your heart. New Beginnings Shepherd Rescue is a volunteer based rescue, we work very hard to help as many adoptable GSDs as possible. Most of our dogs come from high kill shelters across the country, so sadly we do not have any background information on them.....but we work very hard to get to know each and every dog brought into our program in need of a new beginning in their lives. We do not take animals with aggression problems (some may not like other dogs, cats, or may require older kids as opposed to younger children, but we will let you know everything that we know) most of these beautiful dogs have been faithful and loving family pets for their entire lives, yet still have lost their homes and families through no fault of their own. If you are interested in opening your heart and home to one of these amazing dogs please fill out our adoption application at https://www.newbeginningsrescue.com/adoption-application and we will get back in touch after we get it processed. If you don't hear from us in 3 days, please send us a gentle reminder and one of us will get right on it. Please indicate the dog you are interested in meeting, where it says preference on the application! You may also email [email protected] , we are always happy to answer any questions you may have. If you give them your heart, they will give you theirs.
