Description:

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 6 months (as of 04/01/24) Weight: 23 lbs (as of 04/10/24) Location: RI Leo is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states. This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Leo, a bundle of joy with a wagging tail that never stops and a heart full of love! This affectionate little guy is on a quest to find his forever home after his previous owner found themselves with too many furry friends to care for. He likes meeting new people! He loves other dogs and quickly matches their play style. Large groups of dogs can be overwhelming for him. He prefers to have one or two play buddies at a time. He is currently in foster with a cat and has been respectful. Leo is a smart dude that is house trained with regular trips outside. He walks pretty good on the leash and would love to join you on a walk or hike so her can get more practice! He is currently using a crate at night and has been left for up to three hours in the crate during the day. With his eager-to-please attitude and sharp mind, Leo is a prime candidate for puppy classes. He's ready to soak up all the knowledge and skills that come his way, making him an ideal companion for someone looking to embark on a fun and rewarding training journey. If you're searching for a loyal companion who will shower you with love and companionship, look no further than Leo. With his enthusiasm for life and heart of gold, he's ready to fill your home with happiness and tail wags galore. Don't miss out on the opportunity to make Leo a cherished member of your family today! Medical Note: This dog is being treated/has been treated for demodectic mange, a non-contagious skin condition. The dog has responded well to this treatment and is ready for adoption, though may still have some bald patches and/or thin fur in places. Please note that demodex can flare up in any dog in times of stress (eg, transport, transition to a new home, change in food, etc). As such, the adopter is advised to discuss this condition and best next steps with their veterinarian. SOS recommends that dogs with a history of demodectic mange be kept on regular NexGard or Bravecto for flea/tick prevention for at least 3 months after adoption for adults or until 18 months of age for puppies. Please see here for more information on demodectic mange and talk with your Adoption Counselor about this condition. Medical Note: Slight under bite. At the time of adoption, no gum or soft palate trauma, nor discomfort with or effect on eating/chewing is noticed; no treatment is recommended at this time. As the dog is a growing/developing puppy, this could change and change quickly. Adopter should do regular checks of the mouth weekly to see if there is any trauma occurring. Comfort and ability to eat are going to be the main observation points, but the adopter should also look closely for damage to the gums/palate. If any concerns, exam by an oral specialist is recommended as they are best equipped to recommend the care and timeline that would benefit the individual the most. If intervention is required, growth and facial development should be relatively complete. Please check with your vet if you have any questions or concerns about this medical history. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
