Male Dog, Labrador Retriever

Labrador Retriever / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: 7 mos. (as of 9/6/26) Weight: 30 lbs (as of 7/20/26) Location: RI This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Meet Jimmy Dean (aka Slim Jim, Jimbo, Jimmy Jam, Yogi... and probably a few more names he'll happily answer to if snacks are involved!) An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. Jimmy Dean is one of the five Dot puppies and one of four boys in the litter. At just 9 months old, this handsome tripod heartthrob is already winning fans wherever he goes. His former foster family described him as great-looking and well-behaved, but honestly, Jimmy's biggest accomplishment is convincing every person he meets that they should stop what they're doing and pet him immediately. If Jimmy had a life motto, it would be: "Love hard. Snack often. Nap whenever possible." This sweet boy is nothing but affection wrapped in fur. He is a world-class snuggler, an enthusiastic blanket thief, and an elite-level bed hog. If you're looking for personal space, Jimmy respectfully suggests you lower your expectations. His ideal evening consists of curling up beside you, leaning into you, climbing onto you, and eventually spreading out across 90% of the bed while you cling to the edge. Jimmy loves everyone he meets and is said to do great with kids, cats, other dogs, goats, and even chickens. Basically, if it's breathing, Jimmy would like to be friends with it. Jimmy's résumé is impressive for someone who doesn't have opposable thumbs. He's fully house trained, walks beautifully on and off leash, and has excellent recall. He gets along with just about everyone, loves to cuddle, and has mastered the art of looking deprived even five minutes after eating a snack. Jimmy is also a special tripod pup, meaning he has three legs. Don't let that fool you, though. Jimmy didn't get the memo that he's supposed to be limited. He runs, plays, explores, and enjoys life just like any other puppy. He has adapted wonderfully and is not known to need any additional treatment. Jimmy would be happy in a home with another dog or as your one-and-only. What matters most to him is having people who will shower him with affection, include him in their daily activities, and appreciate his considerable talents in cuddling and snack acquisition. Jimmy and his littermates were rescued from a difficult situation and have come a long way. Now he's ready for a forever home where he can be loved as much as he loves everyone else. Jimmy's Resume Skills: Professional cuddler Snack quality assurance specialist Off-leash hiking buddy Blanket redistribution expert Certified Good Boy House-training valedictorian Likes: Treats More treats Belly rubs Everyone Being wherever you are Taking up way more than his share of the bed Dislikes: The concept of personal space Empty treat jars Being told he can't have your spot on the couch Jimmy Dean is looking for a family who wants a loyal companion, a built-in cuddle buddy, and a part-time comedian. If your home could use a little more love, laughter, and fur on the furniture, Slim Jim, Jimmy Jam, Jimbo, Yogi, or whatever nickname you invent next may just be your perfect match. Warning: Adoption of Jimmy Dean may result in excessive smiling, reduced personal space, and an unexplained increase in your monthly snack budget. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: Adoption Application - SOS Animal Rescue League in Rhode Island (sosarl.org) **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
