Description:

To apply to adopt this dog now, complete our adoption application HERE To see our upcoming events where you can meet some of our dogs, please see HERE Age: ~ 8 years old (as of February 22, 2024) Weight: 17.4 lbs (as of March 26, 2024) Location: RI Chachee is available for adoption to Massachusetts residents, as well as those in the other New England states . This dog has been spayed/neutered, is up to date on shots, on heartworm preventative and is microchipped. Imagine having the only world you’ve ever known turned upside down. That’s what happened to Chachee and his BFF Snickers when their owner passed away and the surviving family members did not want them. When they first came into rescue, Chachee was frightened, but who wouldn’t be under the circumstances? With time and patience, he has come to learn that there are many trusting people in the world, and has become a playful, fun, snuggle bug. Now, he is ready to find his forever home(s), either separately or with Snickers. Chachee does well with the other dogs he lives with and is interested and submissive with the new dogs he meets. Cats and other small animals are a bit scary to him. He does well with women, but we are not sure how he is with men or kids since he’s always lived with women. He was very nervous meeting new people when he first came into rescue, but he’s getting more tolerant as his world gradually gets a bigger. Chachee was reportedly housebroken when he lived with his former owner however, he has had a few accidents with his current foster but seems to do ok with regular trips outside. He is comfortable on his leash and in his crate. He doesn't like to be left alone and will whine and bark when his foster leaves for work but eventually settles. Chachee is affectionate and outgoing and barks in play. He loves all kinds of toys and play and loves to check out new places. He does well crated in the car and is house and leash trained. This middle-aged gentleman is looking for a loving home that is patient and willing to expose him to new things gradually. Training is essential for keeping a dog safe and helping them navigate the world better. As with all rescues, training will help Chachee become more confident and improve his bond with you. So, if you are looking for a pint-sized bundle of love and fun, Chachee may be the pup for you! Medical Note: Moderate plaque and tartar build on teeth; no gingivitis, root exposure or blackness observed. Tooth brushing/dental chews could help. Dental hygiene is most commonly thought to be reflective of a combination of diet, hygiene and genes. A sedated dental should be considered the next time the dog needs to be under anesthesia. An adoption donation is required for each adoption; please see HERE for more information about this. To apply for this dog, fill out an adoption application on our website: www.sosarl.org/aa/ **Additional info you should know - For most of our dogs, we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our dogs as an individual and do our best to describe and place them based on personality not breed label. Some dogs may not yet be in New England, nor ready for immediate adoption. There may be additional vetting, quarantine, waiting periods and/or fees depending upon your state of residence. If you have questions or concerns on any of this, you can discuss this with your Adoption Counselor.
