Female Dog, Border Collie

Border Collie / Mixed (Short Coat)

Description:

ADOPTION FEE WAIVED - PLEASE READ JILLY'S STORY... Meet JILLY, a sweet, shy, energetic girl looking for a home. She appears to be a border collie mix, about 3 years old and fully grown at 35 pounds. Jilly came to us thanks to a number of good samaritans who provided her with veterinary care and safe places to live until rescue could be secured for her. Jilly and Jacky were brought to a vets office in a county so rural they don't even have an animal shelter. Their "human" wanted them euthanized in November for being "aggressive". The vet immediately recognized that the owner was feeding him a line of BS, these dogs were not aggressive, they were timid and unsocialized and needed love and kindness. Instead of euthanizing them, he provided them with full vetting -- spay/neuter, vaccines, etc. and boarded Jilly and Jacky until he could find a place for them. 2 different fosters stepped up over time and provided them with safe places to live. Jilly and Jacky have both proven to be wonderful dogs. Not an aggressive bone in their bodies. Jilly has blossomed into a friendly girl who loves to meet new people. She loves playing with toys and running and romping outdoors. She's housebroken and crate trained and has been fostered with dogs, cats and kids. She needs a physically-fenced yard and ideally another friendly, well balanced dog. We decided to waive Jilly's (and Jacky's) adoption fee because we have put very little money into these dogs and they really need loving homes ASAP where they can settle in for the rest of their lives. If you would like to meet Jilly, please fill out a dog adoption application at dreamhouserescue.org. All of our fully-vetted adoptable dogs go to prospective homes for a one-week trial period to make sure the dog and home are the right fit before an adoption is finalized. We only adopt dogs into homes where all current pets are spayed/neutered and current on vaccines and heartworm and flea and tick prevention. We do check veterinary references to make sure adopters are compliant with standard veterinary care.
