Female Dog, Redbone Coonhound

Redbone Coonhound (Medium Coat)

Description:

Meet Martha: The Great Escape Artist (With a Heart of Gold)Martha came strolling into HCAS on September 11th, tail wagging and smile wide, like she was greeting old friends she hadn’t met yet. This 9-year-old Redbone hound instantly won everyone over.Martha did have a large mass on her chest that was able to be removed without any complications. And after a brief medical hold, she came out tail-wagging on the other side, thrilled to hit the trails with our volunteers again. It didn’t take long for this sweet, copper-colored gal to find her people. She went home to a family with kids and another dog, and she adored them all. So why is Miss Martha back at HCAS? Well… turns out, our girl has a bit of a Houdini streak. Despite having a fenced yard, she kept finding ways to stage daring escapes. Her family patched the fence again and again, but Martha is a master of “you think you’ve outsmarted me, hooman?” They loved her dearly but worried she’d get hurt on one of her adventures, and through tears, brought her back so she could find a home that’s better suited for her talents.Martha is everything you’d want in a hound: friendly, affectionate, loyal, and a little too clever for her own good. She loves people, kids, and respectful dogs. We don’t know how she feels about cats, but if they can climb, they might be safe.If you’ve got a solid fence, a good sense of humor, and maybe a comfy couch for post-adventure snuggles, Martha’s ready to make your life a whole lot happier—and maybe just a little more interesting. The Haywood County Animal Services Adoption Center is located at 453 Jones Cove Road, Clyde, NC 28721. Hours of operation are Monday - Friday 12pm - 5pm and Saturday 12pm - 4pm. Closed Sundays. Contact the Adoption Center directly at 828-456-5338 ext. 2 or send an email to [email protected].
