Male Dog, German Shepherd Dog

German Shepherd Dog / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

This large, handsome German Shepherd mix is looking for a fresh start. He came to us when his previous owners could no longer care for him, but he hasn't let that dampen his spirits. He is incredibly friendly and has a goofy, wide-mouthed smile that lights up the whole kennel. If you’re looking for a loyal companion, we hope you'll let this gorgeous guy wiggle his way into your heart!Notes from my adventure buddies and foster friends:`At first, Sebastian seemed nervous, but a few minutes after arriving at a nearby park, he warmed up to me and to being outside of the shelter. He relaxed even more on our mile hike, showing his true self. Initially, he enjoyed exploring the edges of the trail, but after a while, he walked without exploring so much. We ran across a dog while out hiking. He was interested but never moved towards the other dog. We also ran across a person. He was curious and loving towards the man. After hiking, we sat in the shade for a bit, watching the kids play and having a treat. Sebastian seemed to enjoy the cuddles and scratches. Sebastian is a sweetheart and he wants to please. He is also pretty mellow, easy-going, good in the car, and decent on the leash. He would make a great family dog.``Sebastian was a rockstar for his dog day out. He does well on car rides, and it’s clear that he is quickly learning how to walk without pulling. He likes to sniff, but is responsive to redirection. With time and consistency, he should be totally capable of loose leash walking, and he is a quick learner. He did well when encountering other dogs on the trail. We took him to the side to let others pass, and he didn’t tug or lunge or bark. He is calmly curious and very observant of his surroundings. Loud, high noises are not his favorite, but he quickly recovers if he is startled by a sound. He may seem shy, but he is friendly and expressive in his own unique way. Sebastian’s sweet soul really shines through. He loves people, the outdoors, and he seems totally cool in outdoor, dog friendly spaces. He is a truly special pooch! He likes drinking directly from the water bottle!`
