Male Dog, Beagle

Beagle (Medium Coat)

Description:

I arrived at the shelter as a stray, so my history is mostly a mystery. I was underweight when I arrived, so I'm enjoying tasty foods. I arrived with another dog that I seem to get along with quite well, and I did well for my intake exam and vaccines. I am very friendly and incredibly cute!I have tested positive for heartworms. In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. If you'd like to help, please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign. My fosters have this to say about me:Samwise is very chill and social and down for whatever. Samwise never barked or growled the entire time that we had him. He was always so welcoming towards new children, people, dogs, cars, bikes, just everything! Samwise is more on the mellow side and seems to be very low maintaince. He could take a nap all day, go meet new people, go for a car ride, go take a walk, I truly think Samwise is content as long as you are with him and giving him love. He loves to be pet and talked to in a baby voice, he gets very excited. Samwise has amazing potential for a household with a family or even a couple, young or old. We love Samwise! It was about a 30 minute drive for us, so we got to see how Samwise reacted to a car ride and he did amazing! He was so chill the entire time and just content with the ride. After that, we took him to the NC State campus and he was around a bunch of guys in a fraternity house for awhile and he did so amazing. He was very social, friendly, and so curious! Samwise loved to discover new surroundings and introduce himself to new people. New people do not make him timid at all. His tail would wag so fast with every new person he would meet, men, women, younger children, and even other pets! We eventually took Samwise to the Lake Johnson Raleigh park trail and walked around. Every dog and person that passed by intrigued him and he wanted to be social! He would wag his tail and go say hi. Samwise is so laid back but very adaptive to his surroundings as well. We took Samwise into Food Lion to buy him a toy and he was so chill with that experience as well.My favorite thing about Samwise was how “go with the flow” he is. Samwise is very content with anything and everything we did with him. He was always so relaxed and chill. Samwise has such a comforting energy bout him that makes him very special. You can feel the love through him.
