Description:

Polo is a sweet, gentle pup who LOVES attention and affection! Polo has heartworms, and care staff at OCAS can tell you more about his treatment if you are interested in him. FOSTER & ADVENTURE BUDDY INSIGHTS:`Polo is such a sweet and gentle pup who loves being outdoors with a human! He loves sniffing and marking lots of spots during walks, but he is easy to redirect when you don't want to stop as often so you can get a good workout. Polo follows hand commands very well and seems to learn quickly. Although we didn't interact with dogs or children, he acted friendly from a distance without barking or lunging toward them. He surprisingly didn’t bark once during our 4+ hour outing. Polo jumped right into the passenger seat of my small SUV as soon as I opened the door, he sat quickly after encouraging him with gentle hand pressure on his rump, and he remained still and calm while buckling him in. He also followed my hand gesture to lay down. Polo wasn’t nervous at all and appeared content during our drives to three different trails and drive-through pick up of food. Polo was very gentle when given treats and chicken, and he even stayed in place without begging while I ate. Polo occasionally used his nose to gently nudge my hand so I would keep petting him. Polo calmly entered a pet store, allowed me to wash him while he was connected to a leash built into the tub, and he only tried to jump up while drying him with a towel. I very gently (and not thoroughly) washed him for fear of him having tender spots in several areas that appeared scabbed.During our trail hikes, Polo was very easy to walk on leash and responded very well to holding his leash taught and close to my body. Polo growled once when a tall man approached, but Polo didn’t lunge toward the person nor bark, and he quickly recovered once the man passed. Polo was not startled by loud noises such as from barking dogs, loud dump trucks or a large branch falling to the ground. Polo didn’t pull or attempt to chase after anything, including squirrels. He appeared curious when walking by a family with children, pulled on the leash a bit to get closer and whined, but he was easy to redirect and move onPolo is sweet, loves walking on trails, isn't bothered by anything, and stays close. He loves having his head scratched and will nudge your hand gently to let you know he wants more.``Very friendly, never barking at other people or animals. He is very relaxed and well behaved.`
