Hello! I came as a transfer from another shelter. I walk a little funny, likely due to some arthritis but it does not appear to slow me down! My friends report that I am good with other dogs and people too! Like many dogs in NC, I am currently heartworm positive, but don't worry - OCAS is treating me and they can tell you more about that if you are interested in me.In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign.INSIGHTS FROM MY FRIENDS:`Peewee was a sweetie on his hike. He didnât pull at the leash and responds well to praise and treats. He enjoyed stopping midway for belly rubs. Heâs a great car companion and loved his hike.``Peewee is the sweetest dog I have ever met!! He was so gentle and kind. As soon as he gave me that big happy grin at the shelter I knew I had to take him with me for the day! He loves treats, taking in all the sniffs outdoors, playing with the tennis ball, and curling up with you to take a nap. He loved meeting new people and getting belly rubs. He is also very smart. He knows how to sit and speak to get a treat. He is curious and wants to be wherever you are. If I went to another room or simply moved off the couch his ears would perk up and he would immediately follow. He loves attention and love and he is so easy and enjoyable to be around! On our Dog Day Out, me and Peewee spent a lot of the day around my apartment complex. We took walks outside and explored, played with the tennis ball, met new friends, and even got a pup cup at Starbucks! We also spent some time cuddling on the couch. My favorite thing about Peewee is his love for people and his affectionate personality. He is content to lay with you on the couch and get rubs. He is such a sweetheart and so well-behaved. Would be a perfect family dog!``Pee-Wee is a super sweet guy. He does great on the leash, although he can pull at times - he is very strong. Did great in the car, and he seems to like it. He is great around people. He showed interested in other dogs when we passed them but didn't have any interactions. Even just after the day, he was very attached to me. He has a super sweet and friendly demeanor even though he looks intimidating!``PeeWee has such a sweet demeanor! He is friendly and walks very well. PeeWee was such a wonderful boy! He had a nice walk and then went back to my apartment to cool off and sit. He tolerated everything very well! He is so calm and friendly in every setting.`
