I came to the shelter as a transfer so not much is known about my history. I came in with several wounds on my face that are healing well. I am also positive for heartworms but don't worry - the shelter will help with my treatment and staff can provide more informaiton about that if you are interested in adopting me. I am VERY sweet and I love people.In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly.
