Male Dog, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler

Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (Short Coat)

Description:

Location: Jay, ME Sharpen your pencils, Heeler fans, and get ready to tick a lot of boxes! Rodeo is: People Friendly Dog friendly Housebroken Confident Blazingly smart and food motivated A good rider A swimmer A perfectly portable 36 pounds A spirited all-weather explorer who is 100% adventure ready! ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS!! Seriously, just look at this stunning blue boy!! What a head-turner! Who wouldn’t be smitten with that dashing half mask and Silver Fox tail? If you love this breed then you will surely love this boy, as he has classic Heeler traits: intelligence, curiosity, and drive, combined with a clownish sense of humor. At 3 years old Rodeo is beyond the crazy destructive puppy stage and is quiet and well mannered in the house. (Except for dabbling in counter surfing now and then. I mean…if opportunity knocks, he’s gonna answer.) Rodeo has typical Heeler mouthiness, and an instinct to herd, so he will need a partner committed to giving him lots of physical and mental exercise to channel those breed behaviors in a positive way. If you are a hiker, camper, swimmer, paddleboarder, snowshoer - you name it - Rodeo is athletic, enthusiastic, brave, and will make a great co-pilot and outdoor adventure partner! He is an affectionate boy who will deeply connect with his special person. Rodeo has not had much in the way of formal obedience training so far, but he is so smart and such a good problem solver that positive, fun-based training will be a blast and a great way to bond with him. We’ve yet to find a puzzle toy he can’t master, and he would definitely excel at nose work or Barn Hunt type activities! Because of his high prey drive, Rodeo is probably not cat safe, unless your cat is a straight-up MMA street fighting dog-punching feline Ninja. Even then, cat-parent discretion is most definitely advised. He likes other dogs but does come on a little strong, so a tolerant, playful dog friend would be the best match. Due to those aforementioned Heeler tendencies, children should be old enough and thick-skinned enough to fend off and redirect Rodeo’s attempts to herd them and treat them like a human chew toy. Age 10+, minimum. Since Rodeo is such a quintessential Cattle Dog, breed experience will be a real plus for any adopters. Rodeo is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines and preventatives. He is being fostered in Maine. Questions about Rodeo?
