Male Dog, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler

Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (Short Coat)

Description:

Location: Doswell, VA Available Phelps Meet Phelps !! Are you looking for your next outdoor adventure buddy? This 2 year old cattle dog is it ! Phelps is a very friendly neutered male with a great temperament ! He’s full of life but can also have an off switch if he’s been worked mentally and physically. Good with people Good with kids (older is better due to energy level) Good with dogs Good with cats (as long as they’re friendly, he get spooked by spicy kitties) The full scoop - He’s house trained and kennel trained. He’s very friendly with people including strangers. He’s dog friendly but energetic so best placed with a playful dog. He likes cats but spicy kitties can scare him. He’s learned to leave chickens alone but always supervised. He walks loose on a leash. He has a decent recall, knows sit, down, place, kennel, “enough” - stop playing with another dog/stop what you’re doing, sits and waits at doors and gate thresholds. He’s very food driven, play driven and affection driven. He enjoys tug, frisbee and chuck it ball. No signs of resource guarding with people or dogs. He’s fully vetted. He’s great in the car kennel.-quiet and patient for traveling. He can get overstimulated by fast and loud vehicles driving by. He used to chase vehicles but has developed a lot of self control. He would not do well in the city due to this. Phelps is a cattle dog through and through - he’s very driven and learns quickly. He would do best in a home that’s very active (not just a weekend warrior!). He can be a busy body and would do better with older children. He can live with other dogs but a meet and greet would be required. For any questions, please contact his foster home at [email protected].
