Male Dog, Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler
Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler (Short Coat)
Description:
Location: MD LUDA! Ludacris is ludicrously awesome. Luda was pulled from a shelter in NC as a stray before making the trek to foster in Maryland. He is a young adult (3ish?) neutered male looking for an active partner with some experience handling a precocious, hilarious, teenager. He is a gorgeous blue mottle with a tail worthy of envy and worship (or so he says). Luda lives to entertain. He loves being the life of the party and shows his affection by attempting to make you laugh and is a constant reminder not to take life so seriously. He’s a bit of a klepto - loves to ‘steal’ shoes, dish towels and socks and gallop around tossing and shaking his prize with a goofy grin on his face. He’s a typical cattle dog who needs some time to warm up to new people but once he has ‘claimed’ you he wastes no time ADORING his people. He crates well, only squeaking here and there when he’s especially starving and is very clean in the house with no accidents at all. He is a super quick study and learns very quickly (though he does double-check the boundaries sometimes as every self-respecting ACD should). He knows: Sit, off, kennel, walks VERY well on leash. We’re working on: Coming when called, drop it, leave it Luda has been VERY friendly with other dogs (so far) but can be reactive on lead. He gets quite excited by other dogs and is learning to ‘chill’ and just ‘be’ . He has shown some mild resource guarding around toys and the water bowl and is definitely protective of car, home and his people. He would be best suited for an experienced family with a sense of humor and patience to guide him through life and learning better manners. He has amazing working drive and would EXCEL at nosework, barnhunt, fastCAT and eventually agility. He’d be an amazing hiking partner but as cattle dogs go, he is energetic but not over the top and happy to settle after reasonable exercise. He would do best with older, quieter kids - probably not the best for busy homes with lots of visitors (without some further training). Other pets: Good with younger, equal sized, neutral dogs who like to play. Can be a bit rough with older, smaller dogs. Definitely will (and has) chased cats and would love to chew on my goat (lol). Would not recommend mixing with felines, small pets or livestock (unless leashed. Contact [email protected], Complete an Application: https://search.app/x6VdVLYHVyXCqR9G7
