Ellie Pembroke, MA Looking for a super fun, drivey dog with a quintessential cattle dog personality? Enjoy training and building a solid relationship with your dogs? Ellie may be the pup for you! Ellie is a 1.5yo spayed female ACD who will do best in an active home with cattle dog or working breed experience. She thrives with clarity and boundaries, so someone willing and able to maintain those is a must. She's a smart kid and knows basic commands, but will push limits and see what she can get away with - she'll keep you on your toes! Energy-wise Ellie is medium for the breed, but she is a high drive dog and needs appropriate outlets to feel satisfied and content. She is super fun to train and play with: loves tug and is food motivated! Speaking of training, Ellie will need continued work to really thrive. She has some sound sensitivities: in a prior home she struggled hearing gunshots, here she is not keen to the sound of shades opening. She is working on being braver and making progress! Ellie additionally has exhibited reactivity towards various triggers, and will need someone who can and will continue her training. Strangers and passing dogs are a challenge for her; previously, car traffic was also a concern. She is making strides with this as well, and will do awesome with someone to keep up the work! Ellie does great with other dogs after proper introductions, playing well with them and communicating fairly. She loves running around the yard and wrestling with evenly matched dogs, and has even done well coexisting with calmer ones. It is important to note that Ellie will guard resources, but with some basic management this has not been an issue here. Due to her history of resource guarding, a home with young children is not suitable for her. She has not been cat tested but does show prey drive towards the small critters we see on walks. Ellie is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations and monthly preventatives. She does very well in a crate and is housetrained. She is being fostered in Pembroke MA and needs to meet her potential family prior to adoption to ensure it's the right fit - she will benefit from multiple meetings.
