Male Dog, Havanese
Havanese / Maltese / Mixed
Description:
This group was rescued from a byb situation with 28 other dogs and an elderly caregiver who eventually found herself in an overwhelming situation that needed to be rectified. Despite the less than ideal situation, this little group is learning what it's like to live in stable situations, receive individual attention, and are doing very well coming out of their shells <3 Best guess, no guarantees, is that these kids are small breed mixes, possibly Maltese/Lhasa Apso/Poodle/Terrier mixes? - update - a couple adoptive homes have received Wisdom panel result, see attached photo for breeds. Meet KOOPER We think Kooper is just about a year old (~DOB 4/2024). Best guess is possibly Havanese/Maltese mix, he is 15lbs. Kooper is fostered with other dogs of all sizes. He would be happy as a single dog to have his human(s) all to himself, and/or would also be just fine living with a canine companion, ideally one who is easy going, and/or a dog who can tutor him in play style - he tries to initiate play with familiar dogs, he's just sometimes a bit awkward about, likely result of his prior living situation. He is also fostered with cats - Kooper would be just fine living with cats, he does do a bit better with the more dog savvy cat, as a romp after a cat who runs away is tempting. To note, Kooper is very receptive to verbal direction, and an 'et' or firm 'no' is all he needs as he learns appropriate behavior in any aspect. Kooper is truly quite an easy dog, he is also young, and came from a poor situation, so many situations are new to him and he will thrive in a home who simply can give him guidance. Kooper prefers a slower intro with new humans-strangers can be suspicious - but he also bonds quickly and strongly, becoming a Velcro dog to his human(s). He would probably be ok in a home with dog savvy kids (14+), but small kids would likely be a bit too overwhelming for Koop at this point in his rescue journey Kooper loves walks and adventure - he actually does great at breweries/wineries, very neutral and content to sit politely on his person's lap. Like we say, he is a boy who falls hard for his people and loves to be with them. Snuggling with his people on the couch and in bed is one of his favorite things. Kooper is potty trained (and actually held it the entire drive from NC to NY)-as with any rescue dog (or any dog for that matter), he may need more opportunities to figure out the schedule once he is in his new environment. He is also crates up quietly when foster mom isn't home. Kooper is neutered, up-to-date on core vaccines, tested heartworm negative, dewormed, current on flea/tick/HWP preventative, and is microchipped! ____________________________________________________________________**If you are interested, YOU NEED TO APPLY.
