Male Dog, Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees (Long Coat)

Description:

*** Check Out My Video Album Below! *** Martimus is a gorgeous Great Pyrenees mix with the light gold coat and irresistible teddy bear face of a Golden Retriever. This sweet boy came to us after he and his brother were found tied up outside of a Tennessee animal shelter overnight, and discovered by the shelter staff in the morning. But you’d never know his people abandoned him because he has such a sunny, loving disposition! Martimus is fully housebroken, leash trained, and crate trained. His activity level is beautifully balanced - he's a champion lounger who treasures his cozy dog bed, but he'll happily burst into playful energy throughout the day, tossing squeaky toys, bouncing balls, and going to town on a water buffalo horn. Think of him as your casual scenic trail companion, not your marathon partner. People are his absolute favorite thing in the world. Whether it's adults, kids, or a whole herd of 12-year-olds at soccer practice, Martimus greets everyone with slow, gentle curiosity and an unspoken request for booty scratches. He's wonderfully sensitive with children, even self-regulating on the leash when little ones take the reins. On the dog front, Martimus thrives with canine companions and would love a doggie playmate or two in his forever home. He's easygoing, non-confrontational, and loves a good romp. He'll need a 5-foot fence for safe outside play sessions. Martimus would flourish with a family who has at least one other dog, kids to watch over, and plenty of affection to give. In return, he offers soulful eye contact, a smile that lights up any room, and a loving bond that will touch your heart for years to come. Could you be his forever family? National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
