Male Dog, Great Pyrenees

Great Pyrenees (Long Coat)

Description:

Meet Bolt, an absolutely delightful Great Pyrenees pup who's ready to steal your heart! This smart and energetic boy was found as a stray in Alabama but has blossomed into a wonderfully trainable companion under the loving care of his foster family. With that signature young-pup energy, Bolt brings joy and playfulness to every day while showing impressive progress in his training - he's already mastered "sit" and "down," and goes into his crate on command. His foster dad is amazed by how quickly this clever pup learns, and knows that with a dedicated family willing to invest time in his continued training, they'll be rewarded with an exceptional Pyr. Bolt gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes, both males and females, (adapting his play style perfectly to each friend), peacefully coexists with cats after proper introductions, and has done well with children of all ages. Whether he's inside enjoying a cozy moment or outside exploring and playing, this adaptable boy is happy anywhere as long as he has his people nearby. He's making great strides with leash walking, loves tug-of-war and wrestling games, and is even working on his fetch skills. And his favorite reward for being such a good boy is a few pieces of Cheerios! Bolt would thrive in any loving home with a secure 6-foot fenced yard and a canine sibling to play with and learn from, making him the perfect addition to an active family ready to guide this promising pup into the amazing dog he's destined to become. National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
