Female Dog, Great Pyrenees
Great Pyrenees (Long Coat)
Description:
Meet Bambi, the sweetest "Pocket Pyr" with big doe eyes who captures hearts everywhere she goes! This gentle Great Pyrenees mix may be a tripod due to front leg amputation, but she gets around beautifully on her three legs and has the most loving personality. Bambi absolutely adores being close to her people - she'll lay nearby, greet everyone with a wagging tail and happy whines, and melts when you tell her how pretty she is. She walks great on leash, has good recall, will sit for treats, and is gentle with visitors (no jumping!). This special girl does best with low-activity living due to her mobility needs, preferring cozy indoor time over long adventures, though she'd love a pool for therapeutic swimming if possible. Bambi gets along beautifully with cats and other dogs (both male and female, of all sizes), and she’d be fine as an only dog or with other animal companions in her furever home. She’s good for brushings and nail trims, doesn’t dig, and rarely barks - though she does have the cutest "talking" sounds when excited. She needs a home with no stairs, a secure 4-foot fence or leash-only setup, and adopters who understand her special needs including keeping her weight under 50 pounds and avoiding rough play. If you're looking for a devoted, gentle companion who just wants to be near you, share your peanut butter sandwich and Doritos, and receive all the love and attention she can get, Bambi is your perfect pocket-sized Pyr! National Great Pyrenees Rescue (NGPR) has been rescuing and adopting out Great Pyrenees since 2006. Our relationship doesn’t end with adoption, as we continue to support adopters throughout the lifetime of their dog. Our goal is to assess every application on its own merits. Key considerations are: 1) the experience of the applicant with large breed dogs 2) children in the household or regularly visiting the household are ready for a large-breed dog who is a guardian by nature and 3) the sex of other dogs currently residing in the household to avoid same-sex aggression issues. For puppies under six months old, the applicant’s ability to socialize the puppy with older dogs is a priority.
