Female Dog, Shih Tzu

Shih Tzu

Description:

Vicky is a 1.5-year-old gray and white Shih Tzu weighing 20 pounds, and she’s blossoming into such a lovely little lady! When she first arrived, she was matted, frightened, and completely shut down — she literally wouldn’t move. But those days are behind her, and she’s now discovering what it means to feel safe, loved, and happy. Each day, Vicky grows more confident. She’s learned to come in from the backyard all on her own when her foster mom opens the door (a huge milestone for her!) and has started showing her fun, playful side — complete with adorable zoomies and plenty of tail wagging! She even learned the dog door! She eats twice a day, loves her treats (and even lines up with the other dogs now), and even enjoys watching TV with her foster family. She’s been wonderful with the three dogs in her foster home and seems to enjoy spending time outside. Best of all, she’s completely house trained — she hasn’t had a single accident inside, not even in her pen!Vicky loves the comfort of her open pen, which she treats as her safe space, but she’s already crate trained and happy to be gently picked up, petted, or leashed. Despite her shyness, she’s never shown an ounce of aggression — just a heart full of quiet courage and sweetness.Because she’s still learning about the world, Vicky will need a secure, fenced yard for potty breaks and outdoor time. She's doing great learning to walk on leash, but it's still nervous out and about. She’d thrive in a calm, patient home. She requires another dog in her new home who can show her the ropes and help her feel secure. With love and understanding, Vicky will continue to bloom into the affectionate, loyal companion she was always meant to be.
