Smitty is a 3-year-old, 23-pound Dachshund mix with the cutest black coat, white muzzle, and little white feet. We think there might be some Lab mixed in there somewhere, but whatever his recipe is, it definitely includes a healthy dose of Dachshund attitude! Smitty is a calm, gentle boy with an old soul. He loves being near his person and is happiest when he knows his people are close. He has a sweet, easygoing personality and is just an all-around very good boy. He is leash trained and has done wonderfully with the dogs in his foster home. He has been around Dachshunds, Jack Russells, and a MinPin mix and has played nicely with everyone.Smitty is still settling into his new life and working on his house manners. He has made good progress, but he is still working on his potty training. He is also working on crate training.Smitty doesn’t seem to have separation anxiety and is happy to meet new people—especially if they come bearing treats! He’s a very gentle treat-taker, too. Smitty may not be the wildest or flashiest dog in the room, but he’s the kind of boy who quietly works his way into your heart. If you’re looking for a sweet, calm companion with a little Dachshund sass, Smitty might be your guy!
