Female Dog, Rat Terrier

Rat Terrier / Mixed

Description:

Marla is a beautiful Rat Terrier mix with a little knub tail and the sweetest personality. She weighs about 21 pounds and is around 6-7 years old. She ended up in an overcrowded shelter as an owner surrender with her 2 puppies, and thank goodness we were able to help them! Now safe in a foster home, Marla is doing great and settling beautifully into home life. She is house and crate trained, although she really doesn’t need a crate since she is such a well-behaved girl and doesn’t bother anything in the home. She is quiet, gentle, and incredibly sweet — truly a little angel. Her foster has completely fallen in love with her. Her favorite place is on the couch right beside you. Marla enjoys the simple things in life. She loves relaxing on the couch, curling up in a cozy dog bed, and laying in the grass soaking up the sunshine. She is very easygoing and not high energy at all, making her a wonderful companion for someone looking for a calm, loving dog to share their days with. She is fine with other dogs of all sizes, but would probably do best with more laid back dogs that dont jump on her. She walks on leash okay, but is nervous with loud noises like big trucks. She is fine in the car and being picked up. She does not really play with toys, but does like to chew on dog bones.Marla can be very nervous when she first meets new people and needs a little time to warm up. It seems that someone may not have been very kind to her in the past, as she sometimes cowers or rolls onto her belly when unsure. But with soft words, patience, encouragement, and lots of love, she begins to relax and show her gentle, loving personality. She loves to sleep in bed at night and be part of the family. She does well with kids who are respectful and not too rambunctious. Her foster family can’t understand how anyone could give up such a sweet and lovable dog, but we know her perfect family is out there waiting for her. Marla is ready to leave her past behind and start the next chapter of her life filled with love, comfort, and peaceful happy moments.
