Female Dog, Beagle
Beagle / Chihuahua / Mixed (Short Coat)
Description:
This dog is part of our shelter outreach program where we take dogs from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them and cannot guarantee they are housebroken. They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Meet Lulu — a Little Dog with a Big Heart Life hasn’t been fair to this little lady. Lulu is a 7-year-old Beagle/Chihuahua mix who recently lost the only home she’s ever known when her beloved owner faced serious health challenges and could no longer care for her. When her owner had to move in with family, Lulu couldn’t come along—the family cats didn’t care for dogs. Now she’s heartbroken and confused, wondering where her person went. Lulu is as gentle and loving as they come. She’s dog-friendly, adores affection, and just wants to curl up beside someone who will love her back. She came to us with her favorite blankies, which she snuggles into for comfort and familiarity. She does have some health hurdles—she’s a bit overweight (around 35 lbs and needs to lose 5–10), and she’s currently being treated for painful bladder stones. She’s on pain meds and a special urinary diet to help dissolve them. Possibly surgery in the future to remove them. True to her Beagle roots, Lulu’s nose is always to the ground! She loves her walks but can be a little enthusiastic on leash and would benefit from some gentle leash work. Despite it all, she never stops wagging her tail. If you have room in your heart (and home) for a senior sweetheart who’s been through so much, please consider opening your home to Lulu. She deserves comfort, love, and peace again.*Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.
