Male Dog, Cocker Spaniel

Cocker Spaniel (Medium Coat)

Description:

Melvin is estimated to be turning 3 years old in January. He came to us from a breeder who did not work with him very much. He is doing well at his foster home learning potty training, but would likely need reinforcement of those skills in a new environment due to marking behaviors. Melvin is learning crate training, but truth be told—he’d much rather curl up in bed with his foster mom and fur siblings.. Grooming will require a gentle touch. Melvin had a rough start and is sensitive, especially around his ears (he’s currently recovering from an ear infection), but he’s okay with having his feet trimmed. Melvin gets along beautifully with other animals and would thrive in a home with a furry companion—he’s not a fan of being alone. He’s slowly coming out of his shell and has started playing with his foster siblings. Toys are still a bit of a mystery, but he’s warming up to them! Due to his history, it will be required that his new home take him to basic obedience training. He is fairly indifferent to new people, but once he's comfortable with you he loves a good snuggle session and wants to follow his human EVERYWHERE. Right now his top 3 favorite things are: Snuggling with his foster siblings, snack time, and hanging out in the backyard. To help pay for vet bills and care (transportation, food, toys, etc..) a $350 donation is requested at the time of adoption. All of our adoptions are contingent upon an approved application, home visit, reference check, obedience training agreement, and signing of adoption contract. All our dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped before adoption. Our dogs are companion animals that live indoors as part of your family. Please do not apply if your plan is to have them as outside dogs, garage dogs, porch dogs or outside kennel dogs. We do not ship dogs. All of our dogs are in private foster homes. We are not a shelter with hours. A visit can be arranged after an adoption questionnaire has been filled out and sent in. Please try to email first. We are all volunteers that work so we can not easily take or make phone calls.
