Female Dog, Australian Shepherd

Australian Shepherd / Labrador Retriever / Mixed

Description:

If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please submit an Adoption Request Form. This is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about The Rescue Crew adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our Adoption Process page on our official website. Meet Gemma! She’s been going by the name of Willow for a few months now too, but whatever she’s called there’s no denying this lovable and beautiful Black Lab – Australian Shepherd mix would be a warm addition to many homes.Gemma is a cuddly, smart, and energetic girl. She’ll be your running companion if you want, and after exercising she is content laying next to you or in her favorite chair for most of the day.Around 1.5 years old this girl is fully potty trained and sleeps well in her crate. She’s free to lounge around her foster’s house while they’re out for work, but happily rests in her crate if there’s too much going on around the house. She’s excellent at matching other dogs’ energies once she knows they’re friends. She can be reactive on her leash when walking by other dogs, but this has been managed well in the dog-filled streets around her foster’s home in Minneapolis. When she meets other dogs off leash she’s timid at first but quickly warms up and is ready to play. At home, she is awesome with the rambunctious corgi next door and the old lady dog who doesn’t want to play. She’s also good with older considerate kids and warmly greets any human visitors. She’s not very vocal and rarely barks at disturbances or people coming to the door. Out in the yard she does bark when other dogs walk by. She thinks squirrels and bunnies are fun to lunge at when she’s especially energetic at dusk. . Her foster is sure she could learn to respect cats with time and has been around cats. All that being said, she’s a sweet dog who charms everyone who meets her. She would be an excellent companion to an active individual or couple, and would fit wonderfully into homes with another dog to join in play. She prefers a fenced in yard to run around in.Special Request: Older, considerate kids are a better fit for Gemma’s energy level. All companion animals adopted by The Rescue Crew are spayed/neutered, up-to-date on age appropriate vaccinations, tested for FIV/FeLK (cats) or heartworm (dogs), microchipped, dewormed and provided with monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives prior to adoption. The Rescue Crew is a foster based rescue organization, meaning all of our adoptable pets are located in homes throughout Minnesota. We do not have a physical location where you can stop by to visit the animals - we require the completion of an Adoption Application prior to meeting any of our adoptable pets in foster care. For the most complete information regarding this animal, and all of our adoptable pets, please ensure you are visiting our website directly at www.RescueCrew.org. You can also access the necessary online adoption application here as well. Age and breed are based on veterinarian and intake professional’s recommendation and not guaranteed as a rescue animal’s history is often unknown.
