Description:
Buggy is a 2 year old, medium size shepherd mix with big perky ears who was found as a stray in Arkansas. She was pregnant when found and has been a devoted mama to her puppies. Her pups have grown up and she is now ready to find a new home of her own. Buggy is very shy and fearful when meeting new people - adults or children. It's obvious she was mistreated by humans in the past. Give her some time to herself in her kennel to observe, toss her some snacks, show her gentle love, and she will eventually start to warm up (could take 4-6 weeks). She's not yet comfortable with being approached (is skittish) so its best to slowly walk backwards towards her. She has recently started approaching people she's familiar with for snacks, so that's a big improvement! Her kennel is her safe place and she loves being in there. Once she is comfortable around you her playful, silly side comes out. She loves to walk around the house collecting toys and bringing them in her kennel. She will especially love to snag your slippers - doesn't chew them, just cuddles with them! Buggy loves snacks and will happily clean up your kitchen floor. She is curious and will follow you around the house to check on what you're doing, and then run back to her kennel for comfort. While she is slowly building her confidence with the outside world, she is making progress learning to feel secure on leash and is learning that not all people/noises are scary. She is too nervous to go on walks/spend time outside just yet, so frequent, short potty breaks is what she likes right now. She is not fully house trained but is well on her way. Buggy is okay with other dogs, really likes cats, and her new favorite place to be is on the couch next to you. She'll thrive in a quiet home that provides the gentle patience and structure she needs to grow into the perfect best friend. If you're looking for a sweet, silly, cuddly, moderate energy, medium size dog then Buggy might be the little girl for you! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
