Gaines arrived on 11/13/2025 from the city pound. He's a big-headed pit bull type guy with a happy and loving personality. He's a strong boy who's about 5 to 6 years old. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped and his fee is $150. Gaines has been an easy-going guy at the shelter. He hasn't shown any negative attitude towards the other dogs. We do think he would have the potential to do okay with a somewhat mellow female dog of similar size. We have no way of knowing about cats. We're thinking he'd be okay in a home with kids over 8 as he is quite large. He is pretty well mannered but might need a little refresher course on basic obedience training. He keeps his kennel spotless, too. He's a cool dude! NOTE: Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.
