Tank is an incredible Malinois, just a gem of a dog. A stray picked up by a Texas shelter, Tank clearly has had advanced training and is currently having a refresher on the commands. Someone put a lot of time and work in with this loving boy, but somehow he ended up abuse by being kept in a wire crate or enclosure, with obvious signs of neglect. Thankfully MAD pulled him from the shelter and is looking for a kind, loving home that will cherish his incredible, calm temperament and love of training.He appears relatively low energy for a Malinois, so some training and long walks throughout the day seem to be enough to keep him happy! Tank came to us malnourished and is low HW positive and is being treated with the slow method, and should be HW clear in 4-6 months. Low HW is easy to treat with ongoing HW preventatives. He has gained weight and is now looking healthy again and really enjoying his foster's love and attention. Tank is now working with a trainer and gaining a stronger foundation in of basic commands. His heel was already solid, with a solid handler focus. But he was treated with a heavy hand in the past, so his foster makes his training time super fun and enjoyable, to help Tank gain more confidence.Tank so far is not toy driven but is happy to do anything for some treats! Tank is great in public, he does get excited to see other people in hopes to get some love. He can be a bit nervous walking in very populated places but has shown great improvement and has great potential to thrive in a city setting. Tank has a very high prey drive so he is a little too interested in cats and squirrels. He loves to patrol the backyard but so far has not been very vocal, no excessive barking from him.Tank is fantastic with other dogs but prefers females. He is a very loving, velcro guy - he is either close to or right with his person at all times. He has a very gentle mouth and loves to be caressed! There are simply not enough pets for this guy but he’s also just as happy to hang out on the couch or the foot of the bed. He is one heck of a handsome, loving guy, inside and out!Tank is a very special blend of companion that always wants to be close to your side, or at least have you always in his sights, and a dog that loves to explore and enjoy his larger environment.
