Description:

Meet George Theo Lincoln (he's had many names in his lifetime-we think it makes him sound distinguished ). Sadly, George was returned to us. His family that adopted him a few years ago said that they couldn't take his destructive behavior in the home anymore. They said he struggled with separation anxiety and would be sometimes destructive to furniture in the home, but then he started angry peeing in the home. And heartbreakingly, this is the second time George was returned to us. The first time he was returned because they said he didn't like the farm animals at the first home. George is a happy boy here and loves people and to snuggle. In the past, Kenzie use to take George to her GVSU pre-vet meetings and he LOVED the car travel and visiting with all the students on campus. He ran around the room greeting everyone! His previous owners said they didn't have any issues with him with people or kids. When George was with us, he was very friendly with other dogs. But his previous family said he is not friendly with dogs anymore. We are working on this with him, but at the time, we think he would do best in a home without other pets. A little bit more about George as we know him: He is so kind and sweet, and seems to be great for everyone. We believe he is about 8.5 years old. At his vet check, he was so friendly with Dr. Andrea and was giving kisses and wanted belly rubs! We updated his overdue vaccines and drew some blood to do a senior bloodwork check, which he was a great patient for. His bloodwork was all normal! His previous owners said he has a history of seizures, but only had one in the past year and was not on any medication for seizures. For now, since his bloodwork returned normal, we are going to continue to monitor. But since we've had George, we have not seen any seizures. He does seem to have a sensitive stomach, but we have now found a food he does well on, called Wellness Complete Health Adult Whitefish and Sweet Potato dry dog food . If we find him a foster home, we will continue to provide that specific food for him. We feel for George as he is probably so confused jumping from home to home and we hope we can find him a foster home or a fur-ever home. He's been in a home for so long and would love to get back in one and out of the kennel. If you would be interested in helping George, you can find the foster form and adoption form in the links below. If you cannot help by fostering or adopting, but you still would like to help George, the link to our Chewy list is below. https://www.headinhomerescue.org/adoptionapplication.html https://www.headinhomerescue.org/fosterapplication.html https://www.chewy.com/g/headin-home-pet-rescue_b71197585 An approved adoption application is required. The $200 adoption fee (payable by cash or check only) includes spay/neuter; microchip; dental teeth cleaning (if needed prior to adoption); vaccinations; fecal testing, and heartworm and tick disease testing. Our adoption application may be found by going to: www.headinhomerescue.org; then click on the link to the adoption application. Dogs for adoption may be seen by appointment only following an approved application. Proof of completion of an obedience class is required for all dogs following adoption. Please note: while we welcome out of state applications, we do not ship our animals and require adopters to come to Holland to finalize any adoption.
