Male Dog, Boxer

Boxer / Pit Bull Terrier / Mixed (Medium Coat)

Description:

If you’re looking for a furry best friend who radiates love, resilience, and pure joy, then two-year-old Benji is ready to meet you. This handsome boxer mix has been on quite a journey, and now he’s hoping his next chapter will be the one where he finally gets everything he deserves.Benji and his “brother” Creed have spent over five long months at Animal Control. When Benji first arrived, he was heartbreakingly thin—just 21 pounds, with every rib and bone visible beneath his coat. It was clear he hadn’t known the comfort of regular meals or the safety of a loving home. But thanks to good food, gentle care, and his own incredible spirit, Benji has blossomed. Today he weighs a healthy 49 pounds, his coat shines, and he greets each day with a playful tail wag and a heart full of hope.Benji is the kind of dog who wins you over instantly. He’s sweet, friendly, and deeply affectionate, happily soaking up attention from the humans who have become his temporary family. He’s also a fantastic playmate and gets along beautifully with other dogs, with a special talent for matching their play styles—whether it’s silly zoomies, wrestling, or gentle chase. A canine friend with upbeat, positive energy would make his new home even brighter. He already knows how to sit on command, and because he’s very treat-motivated, he’ll be a star student as he learns new tricks and manners. After all he’s endured, Benji deserves a home filled with stability, patience, and love. His ideal family will lead an active lifestyle, as Benji adores exercise and exploring. A securely fenced yard is essential for his safety and happiness. Because he’s still working on keeping his excitement and jumping in check, a home with children over the age of 14 is recommended. He hasn’t been tested with cats, so if his new family includes feline friends, slow and careful introductions will be important. While we had hoped Benji and Creed could be adopted together, it isn’t required. Benji is ready to be cherished—whether he joins a family with another dog or becomes the newest solo member of your household.Benji is more than a rescue dog—he’s a survivor with a joyful heart and so much love to give. He’ll celebrate life with you, learn beside you, and remind you every day what gratitude looks like. If you’ve been waiting for a sign to open your home and your heart, this is Benji. This is your sign. Come meet this beautiful soul and see for yourself why everyone who knows him believes he deserves the very best.If you are interested in adopting me or another homeless pet at Macomb County Animal Control, walk-in adoption hours are Monday-Friday from 10am-4pm.My adoption fee is $150
