Barley is a roughly 5-year-old pit bull mix who is a staff and volunteer favorite—and once you meet him, it’s easy to see why.Barley is pure joy wrapped in a blocky head and a constantly wagging tail. He loves treats, adores gentle affection, and has a way of leaning into you that makes you feel like the most important person in the world. His spirit is happy, goofy, and full of life, and he greets each day with enthusiasm and gratitude.Barley is also a heartworm survivor, and he’s been incredibly resilient through his journey. While he does have some vision limitations, you’d hardly know it—he navigates his surroundings like a champ and doesn’t let it slow him down. He thrives in calm, predictable environments and does best with kind people who offer a little guidance and reassurance as he settles in.He has done well with other dogs who are respectful of his space and not overly pushy.
